P.38 Pistol - byf 44, dual tone

In 1944 Mauser put into use a phosphate finish to their P.38s, similar to parkerizing.  However, barrel production must have been ahead of other components.  This led to an odd looking two color (blued barrel, grey frame & slide.  This dual tone finish was unique to Walther 1944 and 1945 production.

The phosphate finish runs from a deep charcoal grey, to a lighter creamy looking grey, to a green-grey.

This first piece has a light, creamy grey finish in excellent original condition, all matching with both correct magazines.  It is in a proper jhg 1944 softshell holster.
