P.38 Pistol - byf 44, all phosphate
In 1944 Mauser put into use a phosphate finish to their P.38s, similar to parkerizing. While most have a blued barrel (the dual tone variation), there were a very rare few with phosphate barrels as well.
This piece is, unfortunately, a frame mismatch. However, the barrel and slide match and they are the proof that this variation actually exists. The barrel and slide are both phosphate and matching in number in the 1944 serial number range with a 1944 date.
Aside from the mismatched frame (which is also phosphate), this is an nice looking, rare piece. It is in a proper cey 4 (1944) softshell holster.
