G43 Rifle - bcd 43 date, milled receiver
Experience in Russia during the winter of 1941-42 showed the deficiencies in the design of the G41, and the superiority of the Soviet SVT semi-automatic rifle. The result of these lessons was a new German semi-automatic rifle (selbstladengewehr) which utilized a gas operating system similar to the Sovet SVT, married to the action design of the G41. This new rifle was adopted in 1943, giving it the designation G43, or Gewehr Modele 1943.
This early specimen of the G43 is distinctive by its smooth milled receiver, and lack of notch cut in the integral scope rail.
This piece is in excellent original condition, all matching with two magazines.
